A new no-kill shelter in town……and they need volunteers
Puppy Love / Love Cats Pet Rescue is a new Chicago-based non-profit animal rescue organization with a no-kill policy. They focus on saving innocent dogs and cats in Chicago that are homeless, neglected or abused.
Dogs and cats are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested (dogs), leukemia & FIV tested (cats), treated with parasite prevention, and microchipped. Next, the rescued dog or cat is placed into one of their Fabulove Foster Homes, receiving TLC until he can become a permanent member of a family.
Pets do so much for the human spirit and enhance our very existence. When people realize that "the dog” or ”the cat” is always there for them as a loyal, family member, they will be less likely to relinquish
them for reasons that can be avoided. Thus, fewer animals will end up being euthanized. There are too many adoptable animals but not enough homes. PLLC's primary focus is to discover innovative ways to save even more innocent lives by expanding their Fabulove Foster Home Network while pursuing funding for a special goal, a Puppy Love / Love Cats Pet Sanctuary!
Puppy Love /Love Cats Pet Rescue NEEDS CARING PEOPLE LIKE YOU! Check out their site and find out how YOU can make a difference. Please see the Adorable Adopts or learn more about Fabulove Foster Home Network.

Why is this dog smiling?
Meet Daisy.
Earlier this summer, the Chicago Animal Care and Control found themselves with an 8 yr old chihuahua that had been hit by a car. The poor thing was suffering in pain. Her future looked bleak.
But Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation came to her rescue and gave her another chance at life. They took her for surgery, but the due to complications, it ended up costing substantially more than expected.
Enter Animal Assistance Fund. AAF came to their rescue
and assisted CCRF with their finances to her care. Once the stitches were removed, Daisy began enjoying a renewed life. Its a long process, but her improvements with running, and even jumping, are noticed everyday.
She’s very loving dog who now has a home to call her own.
There are daily medications and need for another surgery, but with AAFs help, and CCRF’s dedication, Daisy’s story is one with a very happy ending. |

Thanks to
Animal
Assistance Fund!
Geno was a 1.5 year
old poodle that was turned into Animal Care and Control.
CCRF took him in when it was discovered that he had a Grade 2 and
a Grade 3 luxating patella. CCRF quickly had the Grade 3 luxating
patella repaired, but had hoped that the second one would not need
to be repaired for quite awhile. Unfortunately, the first repair
caused little Genos weight to shift so much, that the second
leg needed surgery within the next two months.
Because of the assistance of AAF and Genos future adopters,
CCRF was able to have Genos second leg repaired and the little
guy is now living a pain free life.
Genos new parents
absolutely adore the little guy and he has truly found his forever
home! His new parents even bring him to CCRF adoption events on
occassion to say hello and to let us see how wonderful hes
doing.

Meet Toby
Toby had angels looking out for him. After being hit by a car, a
man and woman noticed him on the street and took him to Animal Ark
Vet.
The woman was unable to meet the dogs medical costs and overwrought
with the reality of having him put down. Tonia, from Precious Pets,
was at Animal Ark Vet and saw this woman covered in blood and crying,
and agreed to take in Toby. Her tears turned to tears of happiness
when Precious Pets agreed to save Toby. The man was so grateful,
he donated $400 towards the cost of Tobys care.
Since May, Toby has endured several painful procedures. Both his
front legs needed surgery and casting. One of the legs was so badly
damaged, it required a pin. The pin will be removed in September
and hopefully this little guy will be free of long suffering pain.
Toby is truly blessed. It was just a chance meeting when Tonia had
witnessed the woman agonizing over this poor pups fate.
Thank you AAF for your help with his medical costs. Without AAFs
support throughout the year we would not be able to always be there
for the poor pets in need.
I wish people would keep their pets in the yard or on leashes
so the dogs would not need us.

Thank you for help with ROCOs surgery.
He has grown into a very loving 10 month old puppy. Hes house
trained, knows commands, runs, jumps, and plays like other dogs
besides having the limp.
Roco has been in the shelter since he was hit by
car and left at the animal hospital on
New Years Eve 2005.
Let your readers know he is up for adoption, he just might find
his forever home. Thanks!

Many
years ago, Zelda was brought to a no-kill shelter. She soon developed
a chronic upper respiratory infection that kept reoccuring for two
years. Confined
to a small cage, she seemed destined for a life of isolation and
constant medication.
Animal
Assistance Fund came to her rescue. Knowing she could never fully
recover in her present living conditions, AAF actively and tirelessly
searched for a responsible foster family.
She
was underweight and unable to clean herself (due to her upper respiratory
infection) but surprised her new foster parents with her immediate
affection and outgoing demeanor.
After
many months of individual attention, proper medical and dental care,
Zelda recovered fully. She regained her appetite, and had a MUCH
needed bath. (it was also discovered during that 'lively' bath experience
that her foster parents discovered she was a 4-paw declaw)
Zelda
now has run of the house, a few fellow cats to "put up with",
and foster parents who have grown so fond of her, they have no plans
to return her to that shelter. |

"Precious
Pets Almost Home," one of the shelters that AAF helps support, approached
us with a special request.
They
came in possession of two kittens that had been born with birth
defects affecting their eyes. Their eye lids did not properly close
and the eye lashes caused a great deal of irritation and pain to
the corneas.
Something
needed to be done to relieve the kittens' suffering. AAF was able
to help arrange for a special surgery that would correct the eye
problem and bring much needed relief.
The
surgery was preformed by Dr. Harold Reece, from Gold Coast Animal
Hospital. He not only did a superb job, but also gave us a substantial
discount.
As
you can see from the photos, Peggy and Curtis are doing great and
live with a wonderful family! A happy ending to a very sad beginning. |
